Role Description

FA Consulting Associate Consultants (ACs) are expert generalists who inform project delivery with quality research, rigorous analysis, and concise communication. ACs are primarily responsible for knowledge management and deliverable development, working under the guidance of a project manager. Our teams work across several issue areas and knowledge domains, requiring a high degree of creativity, adaptability, and responsiveness. The ideal candidate combines a solid consulting toolkit with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly, a passion for social impact, and up-to-date knowledge of issue areas such as public health systems, climate resilience and adaptation, and economic opportunity for youth.

Responsibilities

  • Research and data management: Identifying quality data sources, collating, cleaning, and triangulating data, building and maintaining project knowledge bases
  • Stakeholder management: Identifying, contacting, and coordinating interactions with relevant stakeholders for input to deliverables, program participation, evaluation, and feedback purposes
  • Data analysis: Applying appropriate methods and frameworks to analyse data, compile Excel databases and models, visualize relevant information, and develop testable hypotheses and actionable insights
  • Communication: Communicating findings in both verbal and written formats, e.g., contributing to team and update meetings, writing long form reports and PowerPoint presentations
  • Business development: Contributing to opportunity identification and evaluation, development of concept notes and proposals, supporting long term relationships and creation of networks and partnerships to drive African development agendas.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, engineering, economics, or a related field. Additional certifications in relevant methods will be considered as an advantage
  • Two years’ experience at a leading management consultancy firm required, additional experiences in economic development-related fields will be an added advantage
  • Significant experience living and working in developing country contexts required, preferably in Africa
  • Sensitivity to varied political and cultural environments, and demonstrated commitment to African interests and positions on economic and social governance and development issues
  • Strong qualitative research skills, particularly in conducting and analyzing interviews especially with young people, including observing data protection and ethics principles
  • Excellent writing and communication skills and experience presenting complex information in a variety of formats for different audiences
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative analytical methods, comfort with systems thinking, human-centered design, and/or monitoring and evaluation methods will be an added advantage
  • Ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment
